Al-Fatihah - Mohd Abas Sulaiman
IPOH: The badly burnt body found under some bushes at a rubber plantation in Kampung Chengai, Sungkai, about 90km from here has been identified as that of 16-year-old Mohd Abas Sulaiman. Tapah Acting OCPD Deputy Supt Osman Muhammad Sebot said Mohd Abas, a Form Four student from Kampung Hendrah Baru, Sungkai, had been missing from home since Saturday.
“From dental records, we have confirmed the identity of the victim. A post-mortem revealed that the deceased suffered 50% burns. There were some injuries on his head and right side of his chest,” DSP Osman said yesterday. At 8am on Tuesday, some workers of a chicken farm found the body. DSP Osman said police have classified the case as murder. He said two youths in their 20s had been remanded to facilitate investigation.
Her said the deceased, who worked part-time in a restaurant, had left home at 10pm on Saturday to meet friends. “It is believed that the deceased had been involved in a quarrel,” DSP Osman said. The deceased’s family had lodged a police report on Monday when Mohd Abas failed to return home.
